‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’: Henry Cavill And Co. Take On The Nazis - Trailer

I’ve mentioned in my post about another Guy Ritche-adjacent project coming out soon, The Gentlemen spin-off series on Netflix, that Ritchie is a very busy guy. It also works out in his favor to me that I think he’s a pretty consistent director. It’s also nice to see that we might be in the middle of a Henry Cavill comeback, and I’m open to that too. I’m pretty partial to him playing superspies too, with his turns in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (another Ritchie movie), and most recently Argylle, being some of my personal favorites of his. A big win for him on a more personal note to me is that he was a big standout in Argylle, even if the movie itself is something that I think needed more work. Either way, I’m game to see what both Ritchie and Cavill usually have in store, so pairing them up again after The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a damn good way to get my attention.

Ritchie’s latest movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, is actually based on real events. Well, technically, it’s based on a *very* fictionalized book about a real event during World War II called Operation Postmaster, which was the British seizure of Axis shipping in Santa Isabel harbor on the Spanish island of Fernando Pó in the Gulf of Guinea off the west coast of Africa. It’s also about the Special Operations Executive, a secret British organization that was founded by Winston Churchill to help fight the Nazis and change the tide of the war, which is also considered to be the genesis of black ops in warfare. Admittedly, it just looks like Kingsman to me, but hey, I’m a sucker for a good historical revision of a movie. It also looks fun enough to me that I’m willing to just put aside any problems.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare stars Henry Cavill (Argylle, Man of Steel), Eiza González (Baby Driver, AmbuLAnce), Alan Ritchson (Reacher, the upcoming Ordinary Angels), Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike, Elvis & Nixon), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (The Woman King, the After franchise), Babs Olusanmokun (The Book of Clarence, the upcoming Dune: Part Two), Henrique Zaga (The New Mutants, The Stand), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door), Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians, The Gentlemen), and Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Mission – Impossible: Dead Reckoning).
