Gareth Edwards To Direct Next ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel - News Reelz

From Gaius Bolling

The Jurassic World sequel has found its director! It has just been announced that Gareth Edwards is in talks to direct Universal’s next Jurassic film. The studio had to move quickly finding a new director after talks the with filmmaker David Leitch fell through.

Edwards came on board after impressing producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, who helped launch the franchise in the 90s. An offer soon followed and pre-production is expected to ramp up once a deal is sealed. They do have to move quick since the studio recently dated the film to open on July 2, 2025.

Edwards is no stranger to big films. He directed Godzilla for Legendary and Warner Bros. and then went on to helm the Star Wars standalone pic Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which would go on to gross a billion dollars at the global box-office. He also recently directed The Creator for 20th Century and New Regency.
