‘Ahsoka’: ‘Part Five: Shadow Warrior’ - Recap

The fifth episode opens with Hera descending her ship to find the aftermath of Baylan and Ahsoka’s battle. She sees Huyang holding Sabine’s helmet, he tells Hera that he wants them to stay together but they never listen. Wasting no time we cut to Ahsoka and Anakin in limbo from last week. He tells Ahsoka that she looks old and she’s there because she lost a fight. Anakin says he’s there to finish her training and that she isn’t too old to learn. Then they have a brief lightsaber duel.
Huyang and Hera are trying to find a way to find Sabine and Ahsoka. Hera’s son tells her there’s something weird about the waves and says he hears lightsabers. They leave to investigate as Ahsoka and Anakin continue their duel. He says he hasn’t taught her everything yet and sends her deeper into limbo. It’s a pink-cloudy area with Stormtroopers and Anakin amid The Clown Wars. Ahsoka says she doesn’t understand. Then we see the aftermath with many troopers being tended to and carried off on stretchers. Ahsoka says this isn’t what she trained for. Anakin says she needs to adapt to the times but Ahsoka doesn’t want to fight anymore. As Anakin walks away you see Vader's silhouette briefly before it transitions back to Anakin.
Hera and her team seem to be spinning their wheels in their search. Huyang says he’s surprised the New Republic approved their mission and Hera said they didn’t but she came anyway. Anakin and Ahsoka talk about the fall of Mandalore and how they had parted ways by then. Anakin says she’s a warrior now and that everything he is resides in her. Ahsoka says she doesn’t want that as she knows what he became. Anakin says she’s learned nothing and they resume their battle. Anakin says she can live or die and Ahsoka chose the former. Ahsoka then submerges herself in water which becomes the ocean in which she fell after Baylan threw her off the cliff last week. Hera’s team finally finds her there and rescues her.
Huyang shows Ahsoka the broken map and asks her what she can make of it. Hera then asks Ahsoka where Sabine is and Ahsoka says they could use the map to find her, only if Sabine left an impression on it, a memory they could use to find her. Hera is getting chewed out by the Senate due to the unauthorized mission. Ahsoka says she knows how to find Sabine. Ahsoka boards her ship and as they’re flying they encounter the whales. Ahsoka believes she can find Sabine by communicating with them. Ahsoka then flies her ship into the whale’s mouth. Huygen says are you sure they know where Sabine is and Ahsoka says she has no idea. The whales then approach fleet command and they retreat. Ahsoka makes the light-speed jump to travel between galaxies as the episode ends.
Episode 5 was another step in the right direction. The Anakin and Ahsoka sequence was stunning. I’m glad they didn’t drag out the search for Sabine over multiple episodes, it looks like that’ll be done after next week. It wasn’t as good as last week but a fun watch that built upon last week’s foundation.
